Jim's Blog

painting blog

A few weeks back we asked if people would be interested in a program of Do-It -Yourself projects, fun and easy ways to create something that can be surprisingly beautiful. And the response was terrific! So as promised here’s project number one, a woodland scene anyone can do. Or at least here’s part one, I’m afraid we had to shoot this video in two segments. I’d like to say that was by design, an effort to create a groundswell of excitement and anticipation. But the truth is the camera battery ran out of juice! In any case this will take you through the prep and the first steps. I promise I’ll post the finale in a few! Take a look and let me know what you think. And good luck doing this yourselves! I promise this will be fun.

God Bless,
Jim Shore

I love the simple way you are preparing the trees and I’m looking forward to the continuation of this process. I also appreciate your high-end tools; especially your easel and palette 😀. I am also very interested in the paintings you showed at the beginning of your video. They are just beautiful!

This is wonderful. Thank You. Because of the way you explain things, I’m really learning a lot.

Great job! I love using the tape for trees!

Can’t wait for part 2. Jim, you explain very clearly about shading and different techniques, such as the painters tape. I’m no artist but pretty sure I could do this. 😊

Thank you so much as I enjoyed Part 1 of you teaching us the techniques of painting. I just love it. I have been to one painting class in the past with a group of ladies and, I then started drawing and painting on canvas. I just love the idea of trying and see the outcome. I am certainly not an artist by no means but, I love to learn new things. I enjoy crafts and, I am so looking forward to Part 2. So enjoyable!

I’m looking forward to watching part 2. I love your work! I own a few of your beautiful nativity ornaments. Marry riding the donkey, The innkeeper and a couple others. They are so special. My mother in law bought them for me. She has lots and lots of your pieces around her house especially at Christmas time.
