How Disney Traditions Began – A Dream Come True
When I first heard Disney wanted to talk to me, I was stunned. Honestly, I thought, “Why me?” But soon I found myself flying out to Burbank to meet with their design team. They asked if I could reimagine Disney characters in my own folk art style. That moment felt surreal. Disney sits atop the mountain of storytelling and they were inviting me along for the climb.
I went back to my studio and created three pieces—Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy—sculpted and painted in just a few days. When I sent them off, I wasn’t sure what would come of it. Turns out, they loved them. I was quickly back in California, and just like that, Disney Traditions was born.
Now, after 20 years of working together, I’m still just as passionate. This collaboration has taken me around the world—from Europe to Australia—meeting fans who love both Disney and my take on their beloved characters. That connection is what drives me: spreading joy through storytelling and art.
It’s been an incredible journey, and truly, a dream come true.
God Bless,
