Christmas at our house is about family, the blessing of being together. And with six kids and more grandkids than we can keep up with Jan and I are particularly blessed! We love all the preparation and excitement, the shopping and decorating and wrapping… the look of excitement on the kids’ faces (and sometimes on my own!). It’s great fun and being surrounded by family makes it all the better. But it’s also important for me to get away from all that activity, to take some time away to think and pray and to be grateful. That’s what I find so special about Christmas Eve, after the kids are gone and everything’s set up for the morning. It’s a quiet moment of beauty and promise that I treasure.

My hope for you and yours is all the blessings of the Christmas season, full of the excitement and chaos that comes from celebration with family and friends. And that you get a few special moments of solitude, of peace and quiet, so you can appreciate the gifts of the Season all the more.
