My Favorite Holiday - 4th of July

Over the years my work has become associated with Christmas. That’s understandable, I do a lot of Christmas art. In fact in my career I’ve designed over 3,000 different Santa Clauses! Because of that people think I’m some sort of Christmas nut...waiting all year for that one special day to come around. Now don’t get me wrong. I do love Christmas and everything that goes with it. But the truth is my favorite holiday is the 4th of July. There’s nothing better than a summer evening with family and friends, some Carolina barbecue, and of course fireworks. It’s a day of celebration I treasure, and call me old fashion, but I get a lump in my throat as we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and the courage of those who fought for them. We’re starting preparations now for this year, bringing out the decorations (like these Jim Shore designs of course!) and going shopping for essentials. This weekend will be our annual trip to the fireworks store. It’s a good thing I have a pick up! And then there’s the butcher and grocery for food stuffs. I’m really looking forward to it. Here’s a few pics of years past, including a shot or two of the fireworks. Can you tell I’m a big fireworks fan? I’ve only mentioned them 3-4 times! My family does a big show every year to humor me. If you’re on the South Carolina side of Lake Wylie over the 4th just look up. That’s one of the great things about fireworks. A big show for you is a big show for everyone around!
