The Genius of Charles Schulz

Part of what I try to do as an artist is portray life’s special moments in a way people can relate to in their own experience. It’s a daunting task because everybody’s different, everybody has their own perspective. That’s where Snoopy comes in! Snoopy is Everyman with a big nose and tail, the sort of universal character that can create a common ground. That was the genius of Charles Schulz, we all see ourselves in his characters, we all can relate to what they feel and how they react. And it makes my job a whole lot easier to be able to use that shared experience in my art.

For example, birthday boys (and girls) come in every shape, size and description, and from 1 to 100 each has faced their own obstacles along the way. But they can all celebrate that special day along with Snoopy! And we all have a friend or co-worker who’s facing a rough spot and needs some sort of support or encouragement. The troubles they face are unique and different, but most folks still smile and take heart at the Devil-may-care, curse-you-Red-Baron attitude of Snoopy the Flying Ace. I could go on, but I think you get the idea!

God Bless,
